Introduction to Al-Quran lecture 2.

(Az-Zukhruf) Ha. Mim. (1) By the Scripture which maketh plain, (2) Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand (3).

(Yusuf) : Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verse of the Scripture that maketh plain. (1) Lo! We have revealed it, a Lecture in Arabic, that ye may understand. (2)

(Al-Khaf):
Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness, (1)

In Saheeh Muslim, (IBN-Abbas) reported that " Last two ayats of Surah-Baqra was awarded/revealed during Meraj".

Language:
Which Arabic ? The one which is used among villagers as usually in cities the languages polluted with several dialect and in that time noble families sent their children during childhood to village for study the pure Arabic language.

Quran is the Master piece of eloquence and rhetorical text: Even now a days several Arabic Jews and Christian use Quran as the core of their Arabic academics.

Arabs used to give many names to their favorite things:

Alama Jalal uldin Sayoti RA referred  55 names to Quran.. (This is not complete although)

• Al-Quran.
• Al-noor
• Al-Wahi
• Roham min amrillah
• Some named based on Qualities
• AL-Karim
• Al-hakeem
• Al-Majeed-
• Al-mubeen
• Basair
• Basheer
• Nazeer
• Azeez
• Bayan
• Ahsun-Qases

Al-Quran: root word Qrn/Qra.

The theme is of Divine Orations:

6 qualities of Orations:

1. In Oration audience keep front of the speaker
2. Historical background
3. Switching of audience like in a time speaker points to you and later he points to third person.
4. Both logical and emotional flow
5. Starting and ending are usually very attractive.
6. One theme but refer other point to well articulate the message

Division:

Tauqifi : (depends on the teaching of Muhammad PBUH as directed by Allah)

1. Ayat
2. Surrah

Besides Ayat and Surrah the third one which was present in the period of Sahaba (RA) was Manzil (hizb) . This is also taught by Prophet PBUH.
The beauty of Manzil that in 7 manzil the distribution of Surrahs are in the numbers of 3,5,7,9,11,13,65

Division of Paras and Rukus were done later during Hajaj bin Yusuf and People can argument about them as they are not (Moqoof)

Arrangement/Order :
Order of Revelation is different than Order of Mushaf. 

The arrangement/Order of Mushaf we have is the same as in Lohe-e-Mahfooz and it was directed by Allah and Prophet PBUH.

Note: In the era of Prophet PBUH the Quran was collected in the order we have now and each year Prophet used to recite with Angel Jabreel (AS) during Ramadan. In the last Ramadan Prophet Muhammad PBUH 
revised Quran two times during this holy month.

Book form:
Quran were saved/hifz by Sahaba (Companions) and later on when several Huffaz were martyred during Battle of Umema. Abu bakr formed a committee to have Quran in Book form. This whole process were involved 
very strict rules and all consists on honored Huffaz . The integrity was maintained but Huffaz during the whole process of book binding.

Later in the caliphate of Uthman RA when muslim justice system started to expand and several non-Arabs accepted Islam the one orthography/script (Rasm-ol-Khat) was united by Uthman RA. This orthography is 
Currently called \"Rasme-e-Uthmani\".

Point:

Usually orientalist said that Uthman was the \"Collector of Quran\" this is indeed wrong , The Quran was Collected and not only collected but arranged/order completely by Prophet PBUH himself . Uthman RA has only unit the Muslim Ummah on one orthography. So that non-Arabs and Arabs from different Dialect can narrate equally. \"Jama-e-umaaat ala rasma wahidin \".
